General Information about the courses
Introduction
Buddha College of Advanced studies offers courses through distance and open learning mode utilizing multiple media. The courses launched are leading to certificate and diploma, which are suitable to the present social setup and job market. The courses are designed after a need assessment exercise. Buddha College will provide certificate to candidates who complete the courses successfully.
Launching Year
The courses through Buddha college will be launched from June 2025 academic session. Courses will be offered in January and July sessions every year throughout the state with the help of online platforms under the guidance and supervision of Buddha College of advanced studies.

Medium of Instruction
Both English and Malayalam media are used for the courses and the candidates shall have the choice to select the medium.But for those courses which essentially comprise technical terms, the medium will be English.
Duration of the Course
Minimum duration for the certificate course will be one month to a maximum of 6 months while the Diploma Courses will have the minimum duration of 6 months to a maximum of 2 years. The candidates who incomplete /score below the desired level can re-appear at the next term-end examination by remitting additional examination fee.
Validity of Admission/Registration
Admission is valid upto five years for the registered course. The applicant t/ student can take upto four chances to complete the course from the date of registration. Students who have not completed the exams successfully, within the stipulated period of 5 years, have to take fresh admission for completing the programme. However, the credits, if any, earned by the students for the programme shall be transferred after taking fresh
admission.
Programme Fee
The fee for each certificate & diploma course is given in the operational schedule. The fee has to be paid in single installment. Incase of Diploma Courses, the fee can be paid in two installments. Refund
The refund of the programme fee is not possible after the commencement of classes.The request for refund will be considered only under the following conditions.
- If the contact sessions for the programme have not commenced within a period of three months after the payment of fee by the student.
- If the student has given application for discontinuation with a genuine reason, before the commencement of classes by the study centre or Buddha College.
Application Form & Prospectus
Application form along with prospectus can be obtained from the Buddha college official website. An Admission/ Registration fees of Rs.200/- maybe paid along with the application.The admission fee once paid will not be refunded.
Term-end Examination and Payment of Examination Fee
The Buddha Community College conducts Term-end Examinations (TEE) twice a year, in the months of June and December. Students will be permitted to appear for the term –end examination subject to the conditions:
- Registration for the courses in which they wish to appear is valid
- Minimum time to pursue the course is elapsed
- Have submitted the required number of assignments before the due dates.An Examination fee @ 125/- per paper is required to be paid in addition to the programme fee.
Internship & Placement Assistance
The Certificate and Diploma courses under the Buddha College will be provided with Internships which carry individual credits. Placement assistance will also be provided to the successful learners to selected courses based on their capacity and ability in work.
Instructional System
The courses of the Buddha college are different from those of the other conventional courses.They are mainly learner centered. In this approach learner is the active participant in the teaching–learning process. Main part of the instruction is imparted through Open Distance Learning (ODL) mode.Assignments, Case studies, Field visits/Observations, responses, face to face counseling sessions, internships, practical sessions, Project work and contact classes are also included under the programme. In addition, to print materials, Audio- video materials are also incorporated. Practical sessions will be arranged at various locations where sufficient numbers of learners are enrolled. The expertise and experience of different stakeholders will be utilized for conducting practical sessions and contact classes. If the number of learners enrolled is less, the course may not be repeated in the next session.
Credits and Transfer of Credits
One credit is equivalent to 30 teaching/learning hours.The learner can avail the facility of transfer of credits up to two courses (papers) passed from the same category of examinations in similar subjects. Buddha College also acknowledges the previous knowledge gained by a learner by passing him through the process of Recognition, Validation & Accreditation of Prior Learning and give him/her weightage.
Contact Classes
Eighty percentage attendances in contact classes are compulsory for the courses. In case of shortage of attendance, the learners have to attend the next session before appearing the Term End examination. The study centre should ensure attendance of their learners inorder to conduct the programme successfully.

Lateral Entry
The learners who have successfully completed the Certificate programme offered by Buddha college can join the second semester of the Diploma Programme through lateral entry. They have to pay the fee of the second semester along with the application fee for getting the new enrolment number. The credits earned by the learner in the Certificate Programme (1st semester) will be transferred to the Diploma Programme.
